Ms. Lola Darlene Russell Whitney, 53, of 237 E. Kivett Street, Asheboro, NC, died Friday, October 23, 2009, at the Hinkle Hospice House, Lexington, NC.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at the Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.

Ms. Whitney was a native of Onslow County, NC, and had worked for Klaussner Furniture. She had served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include her son, Richard Jerald Whitney, of Asheboro; mother, Betty L. Russell, of Asheboro, sisters, Toni Ann Russell, of Asheboro, Jacqueline Russell Bisher, of Asheboro; brother, Sidney Dwight Russell, of Asheboro.

The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6 until 8 pm on Tuesday and other times at the of her mother, 414 Hill Street, Asheboro, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to the donors choice.
